Getting To The Great Barrier Reef
Cairns is the gateway to one of the Wonders of the World; the Great Barrier Reef. Depending on your boat type and snorkel or scuba dive location, it only takes 35 minutes to 1.5 hours to reach this breathtaking ecosystem. Take off from The Reef Fleet Terminal located on the Marlin Marina in Cairns, or from Port Douglas.
Even if you don’t enjoy being in the water, you can experience a Reef tour from a glass bottom boat and from spacious sun decks. Or perhaps, check out the fringing reefs, just a short swim off Fitzroy or Green Island. Getting Around Cairns

The best time to travel to Cairns is September. Cairns never gets too cold, even during Winter the temperature rarely drops below 17 degrees celsius!
