A must-do during your time at Kuranda is a visit to the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary or Rainforestation Nature Park, where you can enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna of the rainforerst! Sample Itinerary

Travel to Freshwater Train Station to catch the 8:50am or 9:50am train to Kuranda. Coach pick-ups are available from Cairns accommodations to make your day a little easier and ensure you're on time with pick-ups starting at 7.30am.

As you travel to Kuranda Village on the Kuranda Scenic Railway you will wind through tunnels and over bridges, passing Stoney Creek and Barron Falls, enjoying all the amazing views along the way! This journey takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes and gives you plenty of time to sit back, relax and enjoy some down time.

Once you arrive in Kuranda, you'll will find plenty of things to do! A must see is the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, when booking this tour you will receive 10% off of the entry price. You will also receive 10% discount off of the Army Duck Rainforest Tour, Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience, and Koala and Wildlife Park. A free shuttle bus to Rainforestation Nature Park departs outside. The Rainforestation park also has a licensed restaurant, where all passengers receive $5.00 off of the BBQ Buffet Lunch. All extra activities are at your own expense.

After you spend a day exploring, you will meet at the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway Kuranda Terminal at 3:45pm to receive your ticket for a 4:00pm boarding. The Skyrail journey is 7.5kms and takes 30-40 minutes, however we recommend you spend a little bit of time at each station on the way home, including Red Peak Station and Barron Falls Station, where you can enjoy your stunning surroundings and take in the views!

At 5:00pm you will arrive at the Skyrail Smithfield Terminal, where your coach will be waiting to transfer you back to your accommodation. Just let your driver know if you do not require a transfer, or if you are requiring a transfer to the Freshwater Train Station to pick up your car.
