Where does the boat depart from and what time?
Check in starts at the Silversonic/Quicksilver reservations counter inside the Port Douglas Marina between 7:30 and 8:00am. Silversonic departs the marina at 8:30am. Staff will issue you with a boarding pass and direct you to the boat.
When will it return?
You’ll arrive back at the Port Douglas Marina around 4:30pm.
Are transfers included?
Return transfers from Port Douglas hotel and hostel accommodations are included, with the exclusion of Silky Oaks Lodge. Return coach transfers are available from Cairns and Northern Beaches for an additional fee which you can add at checkout!
How many hours do we spend on the reef?
You will have around 5 hours at the 3 reef sites combined.
Will there be sharks on the reef?
There are sharks in every ocean, and some of them live on the Great Barrier Reef. The most commonly seen sharks are white and black tip reef sharks, which are actually quite timid and pose little threat to divers and snorkellers.
Are special dietary requirements catered for?
Yes! A spread of hot and cold buffet lunch is on offer, including vegetarian options. Other special requests are sometimes possible with adequate notice prior to the day of your trip. Please let us know when booking if you have any allergies or special dietary requirements.
What if I get seasick?
Silversonic has state-of-the-art ride control systems to ensure a smoother journey out to the reef. Motion sickness medication is available onboard for purchase. Ginger tablets are available free onboard as a natural alternative, but please note that they are a preventative measure only, and may not help if you are already feeling nauseous.
Can I scuba dive with no experience?
No experience is necessary for an introductory dive, however age and medical conditions do apply. The minimum age is 12 years. Some medical conditions prevent diving, for example, asthma or respiratory conditions, heart conditions, epilepsy, diabetes and certain medications. Diving is subject to a medical questionnaire.
How many dives can I do?
Certified divers can do up to 3 certified dives during the day. Introductory divers can do 2 dives.
What if I can’t swim very well?
Flotation or buoyancy vests and swimming noodles are supplied free of charge for your use.
