Kuranda Scenic Railway

After being picked up, your bus will drop off your tour group at the Kuranda Scenic Railway Station. This historic train was built in 1891 and still faithfully transports tourists to and from Kuranda today! Admire the lush rainforest views as you chug along through the hills and forests of this Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.

Reforestation Nature Park

Once you arrive in Kuranda, your first stop may be the award-winning Reforestation Nature Park, which is set on 100 acres of wilderness and is home to some fascinating attractions. Start with an Army Duck Rainforest Tour! Learn about the surrounding flora and fauna as you traverse through the jungle in a historic WWII Army Duck, an amphibious vehicle that can travel on land and in water.

Next, head to the Koala & Wildlife Park! Here you can get up close to some of the most incredible Aussie creatures, including cassowaries, dingoes, Tasmanian devils, and koalas. You'll also get to hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies. Endorphins will be running high after a visit with the iconic Australian wildlife!

Your last stop at the Reforestation Nature Park is the Pamigirri Aboriginal Experience. Learning about the ancient traditions of Aboriginal Australians is a huge privilege, as it is one of the oldest surviving cultures in the world! Watch a special dance performance, see locals play the didgeridoo, and learn how to properly throw boomerangs and spears.

Lunch & More Attractions

After having a blast at the Reforestation Nature Park, you'll have an Aussie BBQ lunch overlooking the nearby lake.

Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring more of Kuranda and joining a few more incredible attractions! You may visit Tropical Treats in the Tropical Fruit Orchard to learn about the unique and exotic fruits that grow on the property.

Also visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, which is a wonderful place to visit in Kuranda. With around 1,500 butterflies of various shapes, sizes, and colors, the sanctuary teaches its visitors about the butterfly life cycle and instills a new appreciation for these delicate creatures. You can also stop by the Cairns Birdwing and take a guided tour of the aviary and laboratory.

With lots of photo opportunities and panoramic views of the majestic area, there is no better way to wrap up an excellent day.

Magical! Kuranda was our first day trip in cairns and it was just beautiful! We started the day on a scenic train through the mountains and boy was it scenic! Waterfalls, wildlife and rainforest… what more could you ask for! We then spent the afternoon at the Kuranda Markets, Butterfly Sanctuary, Army Duck Tour and learning the incredible culture of the Pamagarri Tribe such as throwing a boomerang, spearing and playing the digereedoo! We also got to watch an amazing dance performance from them which was one of my favourite things of the day. We then visited the reforestation/ rehabilitation area, had a delicious BBQ lunch and visited the animals they had there and a lovely guide taught us all we needed to know! Finally, we got on the sky rail which was a PERFECT way to end the day. There was 2 stops, a glass boardwalk and the waterfall which was just stunning. I would recommend this tour to anyone if any age! Families, elderly and solo travellers!

From start to finish, this was a great day and exceeded my expectations! I loved the scenic train up the mountain range learning the history behind it's making, and stopping at Barron Falls station for a photo op. The Butterfly Sanctuary, and Rainforestation were great. Thoroughly enjoyed the Army Duck and Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience with a cultural dance and demonstrations of how to use the spears, boomerang and didgeridoo! The Skyrail cable ride over the rainforest and back down the range was breathtaking with the afternoon sun setting. It's a great way to experience a lot in one day! Definitely recommend.

Amazing day! The Army Duck tour was a highlight, and the tour guide was so knowledgeable about the rainforest! The scenic train is incredible and the skyrail gives a whole different perspective. This tour is the whole package and so well organised.
