Frequently Asked Questions
What are the weather conditions like in Mission Beach?
Being in the tropics of North Queensland, the weather is warm all year round. During the months of October to April is hot and while this is wet season, the tropical heat can also be severe. If walking on tracks on Dunk Island, make sure you carry plenty of water, walk with a friend, have sun protection and don't walk in the middle of the day.
Is this tour suitable for someone with limited mobility?
Snorkelling and island activities are not available on this tour for those with limited mobility. Whilst the vessel is mobility friendly, the infrastructure at the reef and islands are not. All passengers visiting Dunk Island must be able to handle up to 20 stairs without a lift. Sometimes due to weather, passengers with accessible requirements may not be able to disembark the vessel at Dunk Island due to seasonal conditions.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer to enjoy this tour?
A basic swimming ability is required to swim at least 100 metres to enjoy included water activities at the reef. Otherwise, the vessel has a wonderful upper deck viewing platform of the reef, sand cay and water activities.
Is there the option to scuba dive on this tour?
This tour does not provide the option for scuba diving, but you have unlimited opportunities to snorkel and explore the islands.
Are transfers included from Cairns?
Yes, coach transfers from Cairns to Mission Beach are included in the price of this tour.
