Important Information
- Children between ages 3 and 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
- Children between ages 13 and 17 years old may travel on the balloon flight by themselves, but must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the duration of the tour.
- Participants must be able to climb up the 1.2 meter foothold ladder into the hot air balloon basket without assistance.
- Participants must be able to stand for the duration of the flight
- Pregnant women and those who participated in diving the previous day are not suited to this activity.
- Passengers with medical conditions or that have accessibility issues are asked to refer to their doctor or specialist prior to booking.
- At no time will a passenger be permitted to fly if their judgment is impaired by alcohol, drugs, or prescription medicine
- Due to weight and safety restrictions, handbags and backpacks may not be carried on the hot air balloon. Please do not bring large bags.
- Please note that times may be adjusted due to seasonal changes.
- If your flight time is from April to October, we recommend wearing warm clothes to prevent getting cold.

Can I get a transfer from the Cairns cruise ship terminal?
Yes, if you are a cruise ship guest docking in Cairns overnight, you can organise for transfers back to the cruise terminal after your hot air balloon tour.
Please advise your booking agent if your ship is also departing the same morning so they can ensure ballooning fits with your itinerary.
Can I do this activity if I am pregnant?
Guests who are less than 13 weeks pregnant are more than welcome to book a private hot air balloon experience.
However, this tour cannot accommodate for those who are 13 weeks pregnant or more due to safety considerations.
Regardless of your pregnancy stage, we strongly encourage that you consult with your doctor before booking this experience.
Are there weight restrictions for this experience?
There are no weight restrictions for hot air balloon flights, however guests over 100kg are required to advise an agent of this at the time of booking.
Is the hot air balloon wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately this tour cannot accomodate for wheelchair access as all passengers must climb into the 1.2m basket unassisted and stand for the whole duration of the flight. It is a safety requirement by CASA in case of an emergency.
Are there bathroom facilities on board?
No. We highly recommend you use the bathroom prior to being picked up as there are sometimes limited opportunities to use the bathroom, even before the balloon launching. The hot air ballon always returns to the Mareeba Heritage Centre following a flight and there are facilities at this time.

All hot air balloon tours are held early in the morning Australia wide. This is the ensure the best possible flying conditions. Before sunrise the air temperatures and wind is stable, plus it is a great way to start the day!
