Your tour commences at your accommodation in Cairns, where your experienced rainforest guide will collect you. After picking everyone up, you will depart Cairns by 8am. Heading North and traveling along Australias Premier scenic coastal road in a comfortable air-conditioned bus, your first stop is famous Mossman Gorge. Surrounded by lush tropical rainforest, the gorge is a magical location for a refreshing swim. The clear mountain river cuts through thick rainforest and tumbles over boulders on its journey to the sea, youre bound to be impressed!
After the Gorge is morning tea and time to head further North. Youll cross the mighty Daintree River on a cable ferry, and enter the Cape Tribulation section of the Daintree National Park. Here the scenery really begins to change. Experience how the road narrows and the rainforest towers over you, as you enjoy the ever increasing beauty of this ancient Gondwana Rainforest.
Next is the Alexandra Range Lookout, which gives you a spectacular birds eye view of the Daintree River, Port Douglas and on a clear day, landmarks as far south as Cairns.
After the lookout, you will experience the Marrdja or Jindalba Boardwalk. Here we see trees that have been caught in a time capsule - they havent changed in millions of years. As you pass through the ancient rainforest, the Marrdja Boardwalk leads you over a complex mangrove swamp system, very interesting!
Next is time for a picnic lunch at beautiful Cape Trib Beach (weather permitting). After lunch, take a walk on the stunning beach and marvel at the beauty of the Rainforest meeting the Reef. Youll then head back towards the Daintree River, stopping at the Daintree Ice Cream Company to give you a chance to buy a tropical fruit ice-cream, delicious! (Time Permitting & eaten on the bus).
Next up - its Croc spotting time! Your crocodile/wildlife spotting adventure on the Daintree River takes you through the domain of the large Estuarine Crocodiles. Egrets wade near mangroves in the murky water of the river where crocodiles wait patiently for a meal. Keep your eyes peeled for pythons, tree snakes, butterflies and lots of other wildlife on this cruise. After all that adventure enjoy some relaxing afternoon tea before heading back.
On your way home, visit the picturesque township of Port Douglas, where youll stop at Rex Range Lookout before arriving back in Cairns after an exciting day at about 6.30pm.
